Text: Luke 6: 17-18 NLT
17And He [Jesus] came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, 18 as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed.
Hearing plays a significant role in our healing. Hearing in this case refers to hearing the Word of God about healing. Though the teaching on water baptism is great and wonderful yet it is more of the Word of God on healing that we need zero in, when we need healing in our bodies. There is the need to build up ‘faith muscles’ by hearing and hearing .and hearing the Word of God on healing. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17 NKJV.
So, we see in the aforementioned passage (Luke 6), that many people came from different regions and cities ……to hear Him [Jesus] and to be healed of their diseases… and He healed everyone. There were no unlucky ones! This demonstrates that healing is still the will of God for us today.
Looking at our text (Luke 6: 18), it is interesting to note what the people did; ‘they came to hear’ (first) before they got to the position where they could be healed. So the act of hearing is key and cannot be overemphasised.
Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT.
20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
By hearing and allowing God’s Word on healing to penetrate our hearts, causes any negative / preconceived ideas about healing (or whatever we are believing God to do for us) to be removed, giving room for God to manifest His power, for without faith, it is impossible to please God Hebrew 11:6.
So friend, if you are having challenges with your health, then I have good news for you: God’s will is healing and He wants you well! The principle of ‘hearing’ needs to be followed, so that healing can follow. Hear the Word of God on healing, search the Bible for the promises of God on healing, ‘Google’ healing scriptures in the Bible, meditate on them and confess them over your body, over your loved ones and expect the situation to change for the better because healing always come in Jesus’ Name!
Believe and confess the following scriptural verses and others, regularly:
Jeremiah 33:6 NKJV “Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.”
Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 57:19 …. “And I will heal him.”
Also, shut out distractions and other time wasters that may be competing with your time in the Word of God.
Jesus said in Luke 8:18 “So pay attention to how you hear”. Do not give room for words of unbelief or fear.
We stand in agreement with you, believing that as you pay attention to the Word of God, God will send His Word to bring you healing and deliverance in Jesus’ mighty Name! Stay connected with God!
